When Sean Mahaffey taught at Veritas Academy (ACCS), he wrote this article (c. 1999) for the school’s newsletter, The Squire. The school is a ministry of Grace Covenant Church (CREC) and at that time Randy Booth was pastor of the church and headmaster of the school. Unexpected drug problems, however, forced Booth to leave town (his son was trafficking illegal substances), so another took his office and Douglas Wilson wrote One Toke Over the Line to address the rampant drug abuse at Christ Church, New Saint Andrews College, and Logos School (where Booth’s son taught; see “History of the CREC”). Not long after these events the church ordained Sean Mahaffey an elder, an office he continues to hold.
